Zodiac Matches That Make The Best Couples
Indian-origin Canadian filmmaker Tarsem Singh’s Punjabi film ‘Dear Jassi’ was awarded the second highest award ‘Silver User Award’ at the 3rd Red Sea International Film Festival held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, under which he also got a cash prize of thirty thousand dollars. ‘Dear Jassi’ has been written by ‘Oh My God-2’ director Amit Rai. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, Vipul Shah of Vakau Films and others.
This film is based on the true story of the life of Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu of Canada, who came to Punjab and fell in love with a poor boy from a lower caste and later after a lot of struggle both get married in the court but her family did not accept it and ultimately both of them were murdered.
In this, Pavia Sidhu, Yugum Sood, Vipin Sharma, Baljinder Kaur, Sunita Dheer etc. have played lead roles. This is the tragic end of a true love story in which a rich upper caste girl marries a poor lower caste boy and both of them were murdered.
The film’s director Tarsem Singh has requested the media not to write or call this incident as ‘honour killing’. The term honour killing gives the illusion that the murder of the couple was justified. The world premiere of this film took place this year on 11 September 2023 at the Toronto International Film Festival. Due to some unknown reasons the show of ‘Dear Jassi’ was cancelled at the last minute at the 54th International Film Festival of India held in Goa.
