Madhya Pradesh is preparing for a landmark event as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Dhar on 17 September to inaugurate the country’s first PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park.
This occasion coincides with the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday and represents a major milestone in India’s industrial and textile sector development.
The officials will hold the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony in Bhensola village, Badnawar tehsil, Dhar district — a tribal-dominated region that this ambitious project will benefit immensely.
The PM MITRA Park aims to become a powerhouse for India’s textile manufacturing, attracting investment and creating over 300,000 jobs.
To oversee the preparations, the Madhya Pradesh government has appointed senior leaders Tulsi Silavat and Kailash Vijayvargiya as ‘Ministers-in-Waiting’ for the Prime Minister’s visit, highlighting the event’s importance for the state’s growth trajectory.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has actively promoted Madhya Pradesh as a promising textile investment hub.
Recently, he addressed over 300 industrialists in Kolkata, emphasising the state’s advantages — including its rich organic cotton production, strategic central location, and strong infrastructure.
He highlighted that the Central government sanctioned seven PM MITRA Parks, with the Dhar PM MITRA Park being the first.
This scheme aims to transform India’s textile landscape and drive the country toward self-reliance in textile manufacturing.
At the event, PM Modi will launch the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ campaign, distribute sickle cell cards, and promote Swadeshi products, showcasing the government’s focus on inclusive growth and women’s empowerment.
The event will also see active participation from self-help groups, textile entrepreneurs, and beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, underscoring the social and economic impact envisaged.
In preparation for the industrial influx, Chief Minister Yadav has announced the integration of Badnawar into the Indore Metropolitan City Area, ensuring metropolitan-level amenities for residents and workers.
Officials have been instructed to establish skill development centres for artisans and weavers across Malwa, alongside housing plans for the incoming workforce.
Connectivity improvements are also underway.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the Badnawar–Thandla road, and the PM MITRA Park will benefit from proximity to the upcoming Ujjain airport (70 km away) and the existing Indore International Airport.
Good road links to Ratlam further enhance the park’s accessibility.
PM Modi’s visit and the launch of the PM MITRA Park will position Madhya Pradesh as a national leader in textile manufacturing and inclusive industrial development.
This project further promises not only economic growth but also social upliftment in one of India’s historically underdeveloped regions.
Moreover, the government’s integrated approach combining infrastructure, skill development, and welfare initiatives positions Madhya Pradesh as a key player in India’s vision for self-reliance and sustainable industrial transformation.
