Anju is in Pakistan for more than a week, she states that there has been no compulsion or boundation and she has done everything by choice. While she may be having quality time in the neighbouring state, life has turned topsy-turvy for her family in India.
Her father, Gaya Prasad Thomas, earlier said that he and his family don’t want to keep any terms with Anju aka Fatima. “She is dead for us”, he declared. But life has become very difficult for him after his daughter took this step.
Now, the village where Anju’s family resides is not ready to accept this family. The villagers have been threatening them to leave the area and find a new place somewhere else for accommodation. When asked, what if Anju comes to meet her family, “There’s no chance, she won’t be allowed to enter the village”, they said adding, “Of course, the Government is investigating the matter but she has spoiled the reputation of our village, we won’t allow her to come. If she comes, her family will have to leave.”

Anju’s father seems to be in a miserable condition, “I’m ready for all kinds of investigation. I’ll fully cooperate because I haven’t done anything wrong. It is maybe because of karma that I’ve to go through all this. Our lives have become so difficult, my son lost his job after Anju went to Pakistan and we’re hardly able to sustain ourselves, and then this public insult. I pray to God for my death. Can’t see it anymore.”
As per her visa tenure, Anju should be coming soon. If she comes back or settles in Pakistan as its citizen is a question of their concern, the answer to which holds the future.
