Union Minister Amit Shah intensified the BJP’s campaign ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, reaching out to slum dwellers on Saturday in a bid to connect with the city’s marginalized communities. During his address, Shah launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal, accusing them of failing Delhiites over the past decade.
Addressing the heads of slum clusters, Amit Shah took aim at the AAP government’s performance over the last 10 years. Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s recent jab at the AAP government, Shah described the AAP’s rule as a series of “disasters” for the people of Delhi. He told the crowd, “You can become the liberator of Delhi. February 5 is the day of Delhi’s freedom from ‘AAPda’,” using the term ‘AAPda’ to suggest that the AAP has become a burden for the city. His words were met with strong cheers from the audience.
AAP Accused Of Deceiving Delhiites
Shah went further, accusing AAP and its leaders of deceiving the residents of Delhi with false promises. He criticized Kejriwal’s leadership, claiming that the AAP government had sunk the city with poor governance and corruption. “You have become AAPda for the people of Delhi. Not only this, Kejriwal has become AAPda for the AAP party as well,” Shah stated in a direct attack.

The Home Minister recalled how AAP had risen to power by capitalizing on the anti-corruption movement led by activist Anna Hazare. He emphasize that despite their anti-corruption stance, AAP mire in scandals throughout its governance.
Comparing BJP and AAP Manifestos
Shah also compared the manifestos of AAP and the BJP, calling the AAP’s promises nothing more than lies. “We promise what we do, and we do what we promise,” he asserted, emphasizing that the BJP’s Sankalp Patra (election manifesto) is a testament to the party’s resolve and achievements.
He further slammed AAP’s governance, claiming it had turned Delhi into a “hell” over the past decade. Shah painted a grim picture of the city, saying, “If you open the tap, there is dirty water; if you open the window, there is foul smell; if you go out, there are broken roads; and during Chhath, you cannot even take a bath.” According to Shah, Delhi’s problems had worsened under AAP’s leadership, while the nation progressed under the BJP.
Amit Shah New Campaign Focuses on Slum Dwellers
Amit Shah’s public address marked the first major campaign event after the announcement of election dates, giving a fresh boost to the BJP’s election strategy. His outreach to slum dwellers at the Slum Dialogue Conference, held at Delhi’s JLM stadium, represents a unique and innovative approach to connecting with the electorate. This move is part of the BJP’s broader effort to engage with voters in new and meaningful ways ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections.
As the election nears, Shah’s remarks are likely to further energize the BJP’s ranks, setting the stage for an intense electoral battle in Delhi.
