The Allahabad High Court is set to address the concerns of a candidate who appeared for the PCS J Main Examination in 2022 on July 1. The court has requested the Public Service Commission to present all six question papers’ answer sheets before it.
The petitioner, Shravan Pandey, has raised issues regarding his English subject answer sheet. He alleges that his handwriting was altered and some pages of another answer sheet were torn. T
his concern prompted the division bench of Justice Siddharth Verma and Justice Manish Kumar Nigam to intervene.
The result of the examination was declared on 30 August 2023. It was found that he got only 47 marks out of 200 on the English question paper.
Shravan Pandey expressed dissatisfaction with his marks in the main examination, particularly noting a low score on the English question paper.
Upon seeking information through RTI, he discovered discrepancies in his answer sheets. Notably, his handwriting was missing in the English subject answer sheet, unlike in other papers. Additionally, several pages of his Hindi answer sheet were found torn.
The court’s directive aims to verify the petitioner’s claims by examining all six answer sheets. Until the case is resolved, the Public Service Commission has been instructed not to destroy any records related to this examination.
The court has directed the Commission to present all 6 answer sheets of the petitioner before the court. By matching the answer sheet, the Allahabad High Court intends to ascertain whether the handwriting in the English sheet matches that of the Petitioner.
