The Allahabad High Court held a hearing on the ongoing case concerning the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey of the Wazukhana located within the Gyanvapi premises in Varanasi. This hearing, presided over by Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal, involved a supplementary affidavit filed by the Hindu side, alongside a counter affidavit from the Muslim side.

Supplementary Affidavit and Counter Arguments

The petitioner, representing the Hindu side, further submitted a supplementary affidavit that included a copy of a petition filed by plaintiff Mrs. Lakshmi Devi. This petition demands a scientific survey of the Wazukhana, which has been a focal point of contention between the two communities.

Moreover, in response, the Muslim side presented a counter affidavit, adding to the ongoing legal discourse surrounding the Gyanvapi site.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings

Rakhi Singh, the main petitioner in the Shringar Gauri case, filed a civil revision petition. Singh seeks an ASI survey of the Wazukhana, similar to the survey conducted for the entire Gyanvapi premises. The petition challenges the decision made by the District Judge of Varanasi regarding the case.

The discovery of what was alleged to be a Shivling two years ago escalated the controversy surrounding the Wazukhana, leading to the sealing of the washroom area. While the Hindu side claims this structure to be a Shivling, the Muslim side refers to it as a fountain.

However, the court has scheduled the next hearing in this pivotal case for October 22 at 2 p.m., as both sides await further developments in this complex legal matter.
