The prolonged conflict between the President and the General Secretary of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association appears to be on hold, at least for now.
General Secretary Vikrant Pandey has retracted the contentious decisions made during the executive meeting on 4 September, following a series of misunderstandings.
In a recent press release, Pandey expressed regret over the incident, acknowledging that the decisions were a result of miscommunication.
Bar Association President Anil Tiwari welcomed Pandey’s move, expressing optimism that the retraction would foster a more collaborative environment within the executive body.
Tiwari hopes that this development will enable the association to move forward with its plans for the benefit of its members in a more amicable atmosphere.
The dispute had escalated during the executive meeting held under the leadership of Senior Vice President Rajesh Khare and General Secretary Vikrant Pandey.
During the meeting with 22 members present, they passed a resolution to temporarily remove President Anil Tiwari from his position for one month.
Additionally, a decision made to annul all resolutions issued by President Tiwari.
In response, President Tiwari accused the executive officers of misappropriating association funds and acting unilaterally. He further responded by stripping Senior Vice President Khare of his powers and reassigning them to Vice President Agnihotri Kumar Tripathi.
Following the heated exchanges, efforts were made by various officials and members to mediate between the conflicting parties.
The group eventually reached a consensus, prompting General Secretary Pandey to retract the earlier decisions and issue an apology.
Bar Association Executive Member Assaulted; Lack Of Intervention Sparks Concerns
However, the situation took a concerning turn after the retraction.
During a gathering at the bar office, one of the male executive members reportedly faced verbal abuse and physical assault in front of other members.
Despite the gravity of the situation, no intervention occurred, raising concerns about the association’s internal discipline and governance.
