UP: All Private Schools To Be Closed Today In Protest Against Azamgarh School Principal And Teacher’s Arrest

All private schools in Uttar Pradesh are closed today (August 8) in protest against the action taken on the principal and class teacher in connection with the death of a girl student in a private school in Azamgarh, UP. This decision has been taken by the Private School Association. Schools will remain closed for one day including Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Bareilly.

The association came out against the arrest

Giving information in this regard, Atul Srivastava, President of the Association of Private Schools, said that the organizations of CBSE and ICSE Board schools of the state are associated with them. It has been decided that all the schools will remain closed on 8th August and it will be celebrated as Awareness Day. From principal to the school staff, all will come wearing black bands and express condolences by keeping silence on the death of the girl student.

Arrest should have been done after investigation – Association

Atul Srivastava says that earlier the police should have investigated all aspects in the case. After that people should be detained, but without investigation, the principal and the teacher were arrested and sent to jail. School organizations are protesting against this.

Police engaged in investigation of the case

Significantly, on July 31, a girl student died under suspicious circumstances at the Children’s Girls College in Harbanshpur. After registering a case against the school management on the complaint of the family members, the principal and the class teacher were arrested. On this matter, SP Anurag Arya said, “The matter is being investigated seriously. The footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the school is being checked. Strict action will be taken after the investigation of the case is completed.”
