Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday participated in the Maha Kumbh pilgrimage, taking a holy dip at the Sangam. He offered prayers to the Ganga and the Sun and wished for harmony among communities.
“I took 11 dips and prayed for unity,” he stated. Akhilesh made donations to children of the boatmen who had gathered to see him, following the tradition of not revealing the details of his offerings.
He later visited a stall distributing hot milk free to devotees and posted a video of the initiative on social media. Writing in Hindi, he called milk donation a “great donation.” According to a Samajwadi leader, the stall was set up at Akhilesh’s behest, though the party chose not to publicize the effort.
Akhilesh Yadav Prepares Mahaprasad In ISKCON Kitchen
During his visit to the Maha Kumbh, Akhilesh inspected the ISKCON Mahaprasad Seva Kitchen in Sector-19, which operates with support from the Adani Group. The kitchen serves food to one lakh devotees daily.
Akhilesh personally prepared Mahaprasad and joined in the seva before taking the prasad himself. Devotees praised the collaborative effort by ISKCON and Adani.
The Samajwadi chief also visited Sector-16, where his party had installed a statue of his late father, Mulayam Singh Yadav. He garlanded the statue to honor the party founder’s legacy.
Akhilesh’s participation in the Maha Kumbh drew mixed reactions, with BJP ministers taking jabs at his religious devotion. Despite the criticism, Akhilesh emphasized his commitment to communal harmony through his prayers and actions.
