Akhilesh Yadav In Joint Media Address: ‘Electoral Bonds Ne Inka Band Baja Diya…’

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav jointly addressed the media in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh on April 17. The Congress is contesting the Ghaziabad seat, apart from other seats in UP, in alliance with SP as part of opposition’s INDIA bloc. Ghaziabad is going to polls in second phase of voting on April 26. The two leaders have not campaigned together for any of the ten seats of Western Uttar Pradesh going to polls in the first phase of polling on April 19.

Ram Navmi wishes from Akhilesh Yadav

Akhilesh Yadav extended his wishes on the occasion of Ram Navmi and said, “I want to extend my best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Ram Navami. I am happy that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Samajwadi Party are doing a press conference together…Today, we are in Ghaziabad and this time INDIA alliance will wipe out BJP from Ghaziabad to Ghazipur. Today, farmers are upset as all the promises of BJP turned out to be fake…”

Band baja diya remark of Akhilesh Yadav

While addressing media, Akhilesh mentioned the now scrapped electoral bonds that were discussed in a recent interview of Prime Minister Modi. He condemned BJP for the same and said, “…’Electoral bond ne inka band baja diya…BJP sabhi bhrashtachiroya ka godaam ban gayi’…They are not only taking corrupts (in their party) but also keeping the money earned by the corrupts…”

In the same context, Rahul Gandhi said, “A few days ago, the Prime Minister gave a very long interview to ANI. It was scripted, but it was a flop show. The Prime Minister tried to explain electoral bonds in it. The Prime Minister says that the system of electoral bonds was brought for transparency, to clean politics. If this is true then why was that system cancelled by the Supreme Court. And secondly, if you wanted to bring transparency then why did you hide the names of those who gave money to BJP. And why did you hide the dates on which they gave you the money?… This is the biggest extortion scheme in the world. All the businessmen of India understand and know this and no matter how much clarification the Prime Minister wants to give, it will not make any difference. Because the entire country knows that the Prime Minister is the champion of corruption.”

Further on being asked about the seat from which Mr. Gandhi would be contesting elections he said, “This is BJP’s question, very good. Whatever order I will get, I will follow it. In our party, all these (selections of candidates) decisions are taken by the CEC.”
