An Air India Express flight from Delhi to Srinagar via Jammu returned to the national capital on Monday due to a technical problem. The flight, IX-2564, was scheduled to land in Jammu around noon.
Officials said the aircraft hovered over the Jammu airport before the pilot decided to fly back to Delhi. It had completed several loops in Jammu’s airspace before returning.
“An alternative aircraft was arranged to operate our Delhi–Jammu flight after the original aircraft returned to Delhi due to a technical issue. We regret the inconvenience caused,” an Air India Express spokesperson told IANS.
The incident follows another disruption a day earlier at Patna Airport involving flight IX2936. The flight arrived from Bengaluru on Sunday around 8:30 AM with 180 passengers.
After landing, announcements directed passengers to collect their baggage from Belt No 4. However, no luggage arrived. When asked, airline staff said the bags had not been loaded due to weight restrictions.
This caused confusion and led to protests by the passengers, according to media reports.
Several passengers expressed frustration, especially those with connecting flights. Air India Express staff and CISF officials intervened to manage the situation.
Airline personnel collected contact details and assured passengers that their baggage would be delivered to their homes. The airline has not issued a detailed statement on the Patna incident.
