Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, on Monday said the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) are carrying out intense strikes on regime targets in central Tehran.
Katz said these attacks come under the directives of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and himself. He confirmed that IDF forces are targeting repression bodies and symbolic regime sites.
Taking to X, Katz posted, “In accordance with the directive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and myself, the IDF is now striking with unprecedented force regime targets and governmental suppression bodies in the heart of Tehran.”
Katz listed the Basij headquarters, Evin prison, the ‘Israel Destruction’ clock at Palestine Square, and various Revolutionary Guards’ offices as key targets.
He said the strikes are in response to threats against Israel. “For every shot fired at the Israeli home front, the Iranian dictator will be punished. The attacks will continue with full force,” he added.
The Israel Defence Forces also confirmed they will persist until all war aims are achieved.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called the Israeli attacks ‘a big crime’. He warned of consequences and said punishment is already underway.
His remarks followed recent US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. These attacks came after Israel’s 13 June operations that killed several senior Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists.
In return, Iran launched missile and drone attacks on Israeli territory.
Earlier on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said Israel will keep pushing its military campaign.
“Israel will continue to operate at full tilt in both Iran and Gaza. We will not stop this historic operation before we achieve our goals,” Netanyahu said.
