The Adani Group has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property in Wayanad, Kerala, due to severe flooding. The group will contribute Rs 5 crore to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund for Kerala Flood.
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, stated, “We stand with the people of Kerala during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones and those affected by the floods. We hope our contribution will help ease some of the suffering and support relief efforts.”
On July 30, 2024, Wayanad, a serene district in Kerala, experienced a devastating landslide. Torrential rains that started on the night of July 29 caused hillsides to collapse, sending torrents of mud, water, and boulders onto residents.
The disaster has resulted in the loss of at least 156 lives. Most victims were tea estate workers and their families living in small houses or makeshift shelters.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that government agencies have mobilized for search and rescue operations. They are working to provide immediate assistance and support to those affected.
