Adani Foundation Makes Kashi Woman Self-Reliant, Starts Skill Development Programme To Create Employment

The women living near Sevapuri block of Varanasi district are mainly housewives Adani Foundation aims to make them self-reliant. After Adani Skill Development Center started skill development programme, these women entered the training with full enthusiasm and learned all aspects of manufacturing of agarbatti, packaging, marketing and logistics. Presently Kashi Prerna Saksham Manufacturing Company Limited produces various shapes and sizes of Agarbatti to suit different demands. There are around 300 women here, the success of the project is due to the tireless efforts of each and everyone of them. Investing, empowering and transforming the lives of women is the objective of Adani Foundation.

Employment opportunities being created

Adani Foundation is leading in this direction with the aim of making more and more women employable by 2024. Adani Skill Development Center is a non-profit initiative of Adani Foundation with the noble intentions and spirit of women empowerment. Adani Skill Development Center this year has celebrated this International Women’s Day by creating employment opportunities for women across India in keeping with and aligning with the UN Women’s Day 2024 theme “Investing in Women: Accelerating Progress”.

Adani Foundation in Varanasi aligns skill development and entrepreneurship programs with its mission. The group’s philosophy is ‘Development with Good’ with an endeavor to empower women socially and economically specially among the weaker sections of the society, irrespective of their caste, creed, colour, thereby bringing about a positive change in their lives. The Foundation has made tireless efforts for the people of deprived class. Skill development of women has been done in four special trades i.e. tailoring, shoe making, sweater making, incense and incense sticks making. Special team of Adani Skills is training women in the respective trades for 3 months which will make the women self-reliant.

Various processes are being adopted in the training hub including sensitization, mobilization, and enrollment of the women involved in the training program to develop their capacity and their skills in the domain business.

Adani Skill Development Center (Saksham) is an important initiative of Adani Foundation, which runs under Sustainable Livelihoods component support. Adani Foundation and National Skill Development Corporation provide a platform to underprivileged, marginalised, vulnerable members of society to revitalize and transform their livelihoods. It is working in 30 centers across 19 cities which has launched 55+ vocational courses in country which have benefited more than 90,000+ people in remote rural areas.
