Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the ‘Sapta Dhara’ (Seven Streams) during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort. He said the framework would power India’s next phase of growth and strengthen the country’s journey towards Viksit Bharat.
Drawing from the historic concept of ‘Sapta Sindhu’, PM Modi said India now needs a new current of development. He identified the next five to seven years as crucial. He said the combined strength of these seven streams could achieve in years what earlier decades could not.
The first stream is Manufacturing Power. Prime Minister Modi called for complete value chains, global standards, precision production and ‘Zero Defect’ manufacturing. He urged industries and MSMEs to expand India’s role as a trusted global supply hub.
The second is Agriculture and Food Production, with greater emphasis on food processing and exports.
The third is Technology and Innovation. PM Modi highlighted AI, quantum technology, space, robotics and data centres. He said India must become a global innovation hub.
The fourth stream, Gati Shakti, focuses on high-speed rail, highways, waterways, airports and multimodal logistics.
The fifth, Raksha Shakti, seeks defence self-reliance and next-generation capabilities in drones, counter-drone systems, hypersonic technologies and cybersecurity.
The sixth combines the Green and Blue Economies. Prime Minister Modi highlighted renewable energy, green hydrogen, storage, green mobility, fisheries, coastal tourism and ocean technologies.
The seventh stream is Soft Power. He highlighted yoga, Ayurveda, culture, films, handicrafts, VFX, animation, gaming and digital content.
Through Sapta Dhara, PM Modi called for simultaneous progress across all seven areas to build a stronger, self-reliant and developed India.
