60.09% Voter Turnout Recorded Till 11:30 pm In 5 Phase Of Lok Sabha Elections

60.09 percent of voters participated in the fifth round of the Lok Sabha polls on Monday until 11:30 pm, spanning 49 parliamentary constituencies in six states and two Union Territories (UTs), according to the Election Commission (ECI).

ECI statistics shows that up till 11.30 p.m., Bihar recorded 54.85% voter turnout, while Jammu and Kashmir recorded 56.73 percent. Comparably, voter turnout was 63.07 percent in Jharkhand, 69.62 percent in Ladakh, 54.29 percent in Maharashtra, 67.59 percent in Odisha, 57.79 percent in Uttar Pradesh, and 74.65 percent in West Bengal.

According to an SBI Research that referenced Election Commission statistics, around 2.5 crore more Indian voters have exercised their right to vote so far in the first four stages of the Lok Sabha elections than in 2019.

66.95 percent of the electorate, or 45.1 crore voters, cast ballots in the first four stages of the current Lok Sabha elections. After the first four rounds of the 2019 elections, the voter turnout was less than 68.15%, according to the recorded percentage.

Workers from the Congress and BJP are alleged to have a clash during the current voting process at Little Angel School, which is situated in Mumbai’s Sion neighborhood.

Congress officials accused BJP members of meddling in the election by approaching the polling place, citing the BJP workers’ claims that they were providing voting slips to voters 100 meters away from the polling place.

Workers from the Congress and BJP then confronted each other, with the BJP claiming that they even made threats to kill two persons.”Based on the complaint of a BJP worker, Sion police registered a case against two unknown people under section 506(2) of IPC and started further investigation,” Mumbai Police stated.
