Under the PM Mudra Yojana, the government has extended 43 crore loans totaling to Rs 22.5 lakh crore, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Thursday.
In her pre-election Budget, also known as an interim budget or vote on account, Sitharaman claimed that savings of Rs 2.7 lakh crore had been achieved through direct benefit transfer of Rs 34 lakh crore through Jan Dhan accounts.
The finance minister added that in the previous ten years, women have received 30 crore loans under the Mudra Yojana.
She further added that the saturation approach, which covers all eligible individuals, is a true and comprehensive achievement of social justice and represents secularism in action.
BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman, declared that 80 crore people now receive free rations, allaying concerns about food.
During the presentation of the interim Budget to the Lok Sabha, she stated that when the Modi government came to power in 2014, India was confronted with great challenges that needed to be addressed head-on.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in November last year that his government would prolong the free ration program for the underprivileged population for a further five years.
