The Government of India has once again exposed false claims made by Pakistan, this time regarding supposed damage to an Indian airbase.
Pakistan’s DG ISPR shared a cropped video, taken out of context, during a media briefing.
The DG ISPR showcased a short, edited clip from an Indian news channel, misleadingly suggesting it proved the destruction of an Indian airfield.
India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) promptly clarified through its fact-checking unit that Pakistan had manipulated the video to distort its original meaning.
The original video, which runs for 41 seconds, was from an Indian channel’s coverage of an Indian military strike on a Pakistani airfield.
Pakistan’s DG ISPR presented only a five-second snippet, deliberately excluding the narration that confirmed the footage showed damage inflicted in Pakistan.
The PIB stated, “This is an attempt by #Pakistan to mislead its own people by producing doctored footage as evidence.”
PIB Fact Check shared the full clip, showing the damaged airfield was in Pakistan, not India.
The DG ISPR introduced the doctored clip by saying, “We will show you another clip which will tell you the real story,” before playing the brief and misleading segment.
The full video, however, narrates the story of India’s successful targeting of a Pakistani airbase.
Pakistani social media accounts spread false claims that they had destroyed the Bathinda Airfield in India.
The Indian government reaffirmed its commitment to countering such narratives with verified information and transparency.
Pakistani social media accounts falsely claimed that Indian authorities had destroyed the Bathinda Airfield.
The PIB dismissed these claims as fake and artificially propagated.
In a post on social media platform X, PIB said, “VIRAL CLAIM ABOUT BATHINDA ON SOCIAL MEDIA! Posts are being artificially spread, claiming that the Bhatinda Airfield has been DESTROYED! #PIBFactCheck FAKE ALERT! The Bathinda Airfield is FULLY OPERATIONAL and there is NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER. Don’t fall for misinformation. Stay informed, stay alert.”
This episode highlights Pakistan’s continued efforts to mislead through doctored media and false narratives.
Indian authorities are committed to countering misinformation through PIB Fact Check and urged citizens to trust official sources.
