A viral social media post claiming the death of ‘IITian Baba’ Abhay Singh Grewal is misleading. The image circulating online reportedly uses his photograph alongside a news claim about a death in Hisar, Haryana. However, the individual who died was a different person, Rahul Jain, a 35-year-old IIT Roorkee graduate.
What Is The Truth?
Abhay Singh Grewal, popularly known as ‘IITian Baba’, is not the person reported dead in the Hisar incident. The claim linking his photograph to the death is misleading and appears to have created confusion among social media users.
According to reports about the Hisar incident, Rahul Jain was found dead inside his bedroom at his residence in the PLA sector on Sunday, October 11. His family members reportedly forced open the bedroom door after he failed to come out by around 10 am.
Police recovered a methane gas cylinder from the room. Civil Lines police said a post-mortem examination was necessary to establish the cause of death.
The investigation was ongoing, and the available information did not conclusively establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
Two Different Individuals
Rahul Jain and Abhay Singh Grewal are two different individuals. The viral graphic appears to have wrongly associated Abhay Singh’s photograph with the report concerning Jain’s death. It remains unclear whether the image mismatch resulted from an error or deliberate misrepresentation.
Jain was reportedly married and had a two-year-old son. Family members reportedly told police that he had appeared distressed in recent days. His wife had reportedly gone to her parental home two days before the incident. These details do not, by themselves, establish the cause of death.
Fact-Check Verdict: Misleading
The viral claim suggesting that ‘IITian Baba’ Abhay Singh Grewal has died is misleading. The death report concerns Rahul Jain, a separate individual. The cause of Jain’s death remained subject to the post-mortem findings and police investigation. Users should verify the identity in a news report before sharing viral graphics or death claims.
