“Thank You! India For Being My Identity”: Sushmita Sen Celebrates 30 Years Of Winning Miss Universe

Thirty years ago, on May 21, 1994, Sushmita Sen became the winner of the Miss Universe beauty competition. The actor posted a photo of herself on social media on this momentous day which was shot when she was eighteen. She thanked her fans for loving and supporting her, and she remembered the day.

Sushmita uploaded a photo of herself sporting a “Miss Universe” sash around her shoulder wearing a white garment. She is smiling at the toddler she is holding in her arms in the picture. Along with the photo, Sushmita wrote a note that read, “This little girl, whom I met in an orphanage, taught an 18-year-old me life’s most innocent yet profound lessons, ones that I live by to this day. This captured moment is 30 years old today, as is India’s first-ever Victory at Miss Universe!!!.”

The ‘Main Hoon Na’ actor continued, “What a journey it’s been & continues to be… Thank you, India, for always being my greatest identity & strength!! Thank you, Philippines, for the unending love & belonging… Three decades & counting!! #mahalkita. I remember & celebrate your grace, my beautiful @carogomezfilm #teamo.”

Thanking her fans, Sushmita Sen said, “To all my loved fans, friends, family & well-wishers around the world,  know that each one of you has made a difference to my life & inspired me in ways you may never know!! I feel the love!!! Thank you!!! WHAT AN HONOR!!!” the 48-year-old actor added.

Several people commented on the post shared by Sushmita Sen. One of the users said,” India may find another Miss Universe but finding another Sushmita Sen is impossible.” Another chimed in, “You will always be etched in our memory as the most relatable Miss Universe.”
