The wait ended as Filmfare Awards banged the silver screen full of Mazza, masti and awards. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Harshavardhan Kulkarni’s Badhaai Do were among the big winners.
And interestingly, it was a damn Gangubai’s night! Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus film Gangubai Kathiawadi led the pack with 10 trophies including some of the biggest awards for the night – Best Film, Best Director for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Best Actress for Alia Bhatt. That’s not it, R Rajkummar Rao won the Best Actor Award for his mind-blowing performance in Badhaai Do.
Veteran actor Prem Chopra was given the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Best Debut (Male) award was won by Jhund actor Ankush Gedam. Anek actress Andrea Kevichusa won the Best Debut (Female) Award.
Yesterday’s night was just not about awards and trophies, it was also about Glitz and Glam, there were power-packed performances, tremendous laughter, and emotional moments.
Filmfare Awards is one of the oldest and most prominent film events dedicated to the Hindi film industry. The awards were first introduced in 1954 and on Thursday it marked its 68th edition. The latest event saw many young artists fulfilling their dreams of winning the iconic Black Lady.
