As the release date of Omid Scobie’s upcoming book, “Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival,” draws near, buzz is generated around it. Absurd accusations about the Royal Family abound in the book, including the “rift” that reportedly exists between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s admission to King Charles of two members of the royal family who have been called “racist.” Recent reports state that the Royal family has “chosen to completely ignore” the nationwide Black Lives Matter campaign.
Royals silent on Black Lives Matter despite global uproar
As per Pagesix, who got their hands on the advance copy of Endgame, journalist and author Omid Scobie, claims that the Royals never intended to get involved in the Black Lives Matter movement from the start. Stressing how unexpected the Royal Palace’s actions become when addressing issues of caste, race, etc., the author said: “During my years covering the royals I have regularly been surprised by the Palace’s blasé attitude when it comes to anything to do with race, racism, or the issues that impact those from minority backgrounds,”.

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, which originated in the US and prompted protests worldwide, is credited by the author with bringing unrest to London’s streets. He further adds “A global civil rights issue was forcing change around the world, but the royal family chose to completely ignore it,”
The book describes how, in spite of numerous attempts at communication or even just one word on the matter, the Royal family chose to remain silent and completely unaware. Even so, they made enough progress to handle other issues. “My repeated emails and phone calls to the Buckingham Palace communications office (particularly at the height of the BLM marches) asking whether we could expect any response from family members regarding this historic occasion were consistently met with silence. They answered my other questions, but they said nothing about this specific issue.
Finally, the accusations centered on examining the ways in which different political figures and factions approached the matter. But when the family’s close sources were questioned about these allegations, they allegedly rejected them, saying the writer was just looking for a “headline.” “The Palace is known for avoiding anything it views as political, but in Britain, supporting BLM meant simply opposing racism, as opposed to the complex political dynamics surrounding the movement in the United States.”

For those who do not know, on May 25, 2020, in Minneapolis, George Floyd, an African American man 46 years old, was shot by an elderly White police officer named Derek Chauvin. Protests for racial justice spread around the nation in response to the horrific occurrence. which fueled the growth of the Black Lives Matter Movement.
