Allahabad High Court Questioned CBFC Decision On Adipurush Approval Says, “These Films Put Hindus’ Tolerance To Test”

The Allahabad high court’s Lucknow division heavily criticised “Adipurushproducers “on Tuesday and questioned how the Central Board of Film Certification approved the movie for public viewing.

The court noted that these films put Hindus’ tolerance to the test and added that, thankfully, the community did not lead to any situations where law and order were threatened. The order, however, did not include the court’s observations.

The court further ordered that Manoj Muntashir, who wrote the movie’s dialogue, be given notice and added as a party to the case. The court made its comments while listening to two PILs filed by Kuldeep Tiwari and Naveen Dhawan asking for restrictions on the film’s screening.

The vacation bench of Justices Rajesh Singh Chauhan and Shree Prakash Singh asked deputy solicitor general SB Pandey to seek instructions as to whether the central government was contemplating reviewing the certificate granted by the Censor Board.

The case has been set for Wednesday’s hearing by the bench.

The bench declined to accept the plea that the disclaimer of the movie said that the movie was not based on the Ramayana. “When the filmmaker has shown Lord Rama, Devi Sita, Laxman,

Lord Hanuman, Ravana, Lanka, etc., how the disclaimer of the film would convince the people at large that the story is not from Ramayana,” the bench reacted strongly.

The petitioner’s attorney, Ranjana Agnihotri, informed the bench that the film may negatively impact not only the sensibilities of the general public, who worship Lord Rama, Sita, Hanuman, etc., but the way the Ramayana figures have been portrayed will seriously disrupt society as well.

Furthermore, it was claimed that the petitioner was unable to comprehend where the film’s substance had been taken from because neither Tulsi Das’ Ramcharitmanas nor Valmiki’s Ramayana contain any narratives of that nature.
