“As of the close of business on November 30, 2023, the total value of ₹2000 banknotes in circulation, which was ₹3.56 lakh crore as of May 19, 2023, when the withdrawal of ₹2000 banknotes was announced, had decreased to ₹9,760 crore. Therefore, as of May 19, 2023, 97.26% of the ₹2000 banknotes that were in circulation have been returned, according to a release from the company.
The RBI had made it possible for the general public to deposit or exchange ₹2000 banknotes at any bank branch in the nation. The deadline was originally set for September 30, 2023, but it was later moved to October 7, 2023. ₹2000 notes were declared legal tender by the RBI.

October 7 was the deadline for exchanging ₹2000 notes. At the RBI’s 19 offices, note exchange is still possible, though.
