The Ministry of Labour and Employment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swiggy, one of India’s largest food delivery platforms, in a landmark step to boost employment through public-private partnerships.
The agreement will integrate Swiggy’s platform with the government’s National Career Service (NCS) portal, opening doors to lakhs of job opportunities across the country.
Over the years, operating in over 500 cities, Swiggy has already played a key role in job generation across various sectors.
Swiggy aims to create 10–12 lakh jobs in 2–3 years through its 5 crore job listings.
Bridging The Demand-Supply Gap
The partnership reflects the Ministry’s efforts to connect job seekers with employers more efficiently.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya called the NCS portal a ‘single-window’ for real-time access to India’s vast workforce.
“The NCS currently holds data on over 31 crore individuals registered on the Shram portal.”
Mandaviya said employers can now find local talent, like civil engineers, without needing external ads.
He emphasized that this digital transformation will make India’s labor market more responsive and efficient while also supporting skill development initiatives.
Scaling Employment Through Technology
During the signing event, Swiggy’s Operations In-Charge, Salbh Srivastava, welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the platform’s ongoing commitment to employment generation.
“Swiggy has already created lakhs of jobs over the past decade. Partnering with the NCS will allow us to scale our hiring efforts and connect with more skilled individuals,” he said.
Srivastava added that Swiggy plans to expand its workforce significantly, tapping into the government’s digital ecosystem to meet rising demand in the delivery and logistics sectors.
Minister Mandaviya hinted at more private firms joining, aiming to make NCS a global hub for workforce matching.
“This MoU is just the beginning. The NCS will soon become India’s leading digital platform for dignified and inclusive employment,” he said.
The collaboration showcases how tech and private sector efforts can boost jobs and drive inclusive workforce growth in India.
