The Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), an initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has enrolled 4,799 senior learners across 32 states and UTs, covering 505 districts. Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation and MD of NSDC International, highlighted the program’s focus on Industry 4.0 courses like machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data.
Modernizing Agriculture and Boosting Tourism
In Assam, 51-year-old farm owner and travel agency operator Baruah completed the Kisan drone operator course. He modernized his farming practices and began capturing Assam’s scenic beauty, boosting his travel business.
Improving Skills for Teachers and Technicians
In Rajasthan, 55-year-old technician and instructor Prafulla Rawat used SIDH’s employability and entrepreneurship courses to enhance his teaching. However, he urged the platform to expand its offerings in Indian languages, especially Hindi. Similarly, 54-year-old Delhi teacher Sanjiv Nigam enrolled in the Google Cloud Generative AI course. He now helps students understand AI and called for courses tailored specifically for teachers.
Launched on September 13, 2023, SIDH has become a vital learning resource for senior citizens. Tiwari noted that it empowers them with lifelong learning opportunities and career advancement skills.
