Pegatron, Apple’s vendor has resumed manufacture of iPhones in stages at its factory in Tamil Nadu following a fire accident.

On Saturday, a minor fire at the Taiwanese component producer Pegatron’s factory caused a temporary halt in production.

“Pegatron has resumed iPhone production in a phased manner today”, sources stated.

An Initial investigation found the incident at the factory in Mahindra World City, roughly 60 km south of Chennai.

According to industry estimates, Pegatron manufactures approximately 10 percent of all iPhones made in India.

Following the fire, a Pegatron spokesperson stated that on the evening of the 24th local time, there was a spark incident, which is now under control at the Company’s factory in Chennai, India.

The spokesperson went on to say, “There are no injuries, no casualties nor damage to other assets”.

“The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the relevant authority, and the incident does not have a significant financial or operational impact on Pegatron”, the spokesperson added.
