NCS Portal Hits Milestone, Mobilizes Over 440 Million Vacancies And Registers 4 Million Employers

India’s National Career Service (NCS) portal has made significant strides in connecting job seekers and employers, mobilizing over 440 million vacancies and registering 4 million employers, according to Labour Secretary Sumita Dawra. This achievement was highlighted during the first G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) meeting held in South Africa, which concluded on Friday.

NCS: A Comprehensive Platform For Career Services

The NCS is a mission-mode initiative under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, offering a wide array of career-related services. It plays a vital role in bridging the gap between job seekers and employers, acting as a platform that facilitates employment opportunities across India.

During the meeting, Dawra presented case studies on both the NCS portal and the eShram platform, drawing significant interest from G20 member delegates. These case studies highlighted India’s efforts to harness technology for improving the labour market and supporting workers, especially in the informal sector.

Integration With Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH)

Dawra also emphasized the integration of NCS with the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), a move aimed at enhancing upskilling initiatives. The platform prioritizes skills development in green jobs, artificial intelligence, and the platform economy to meet the workforce demands of the future.

eShram Portal: Empowering Informal Sector Workers

Alongside NCS, India’s eShram portal was also discussed at the meeting. The eShram portal facilitates aggregators in onboarding workers, sharing engagement details, and mapping them intelligently to employers. This initiative plays a crucial role in strengthening the delivery of social security benefits to informal sector workers.

Strengthening Welfare And Social Security

Both the NCS and eShram portals exemplify India’s commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive welfare. The platforms aim to empower millions in the informal sector, ensuring better access to social security and employment opportunities, and demonstrating India’s dedication to improving workforce participation and welfare through innovation.
