From Hoardings To High Alert: Delhi Preps For President Putin’s Arrival

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in New Delhi for a two-day trip, welcomed by banners and preparations across the capital. The visit holds major diplomatic importance for both nations.

After landing, Putin will likely meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a private dinner on the first evening of his stay.

The 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit will take place on Friday, with defence partnerships, trade expansion and energy cooperation likely to dominate the talks.

The meeting comes at a time when India faces recent sanctions imposed by the United States.

This will be Putin’s first visit to India since the Ukraine conflict began. He will receive a ceremonial welcome on Friday morning before official discussions commence.

Security teams are working round the clock to boost protection ahead of the Russian leader’s arrival.

A stringent five-tier security grid will remain in place throughout the visit.

Measures include the deployment of NSG commandos, trained snipers, drone patrols, signal jammers and advanced AI surveillance systems.

Facial recognition cameras now monitor key areas connected to the visit.

Over 40 senior Russian security staff are already coordinating operations with the NSG and Delhi Police. They are tracking every movement of the presidential convoy to prevent any risk.

Security responsibilities have been divided into multiple layers. Local forces are handling the outer zones, while Russia’s elite protection unit manages the closest perimeter around the President.

For engagements involving Prime Minister Modi, Special Protection Group (SPG) officers will join the innermost security ring.

Venues connected to the visit, including the Russian President’s accommodation and any additional sites on the schedule, are undergoing detailed checks and fortification.

Putin’s personal Aurus Senat armoured limousine has also been transported to India for the visit. It will form part of the secure convoy.
