Equity investors gained Rs 2.4 lakh crore as Sensex and Nifty reached fresh highs in morning trade on Tuesday, amid continuous foreign fund inflows.
In early morning trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 169.94 points, or 0.25 percent, to a new high of 69,035.06. The Nifty gained 52.60 points, or 0.25 percent, to reach an all-time high of 20,739.40.
Following the rise, the market capitalization of BSE-listed corporations increased by Rs 2.4 lakh crore in early transactions on Tuesday, to Rs 345.88 lakh crore, up from Rs 343.48 lakh crore on Monday.
Adani Enterprises and Adani Ports maintained their Sensex gains, trading up 4.40 percent and 4.37 percent, respectively. Other big gainers included BPCL, Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, and SBI.
As many as 20 of the 30-stock benchmark’s equities were trading in the green.
The BSE midcap index increased by 0.54 percent, while the smallcap index increased by 0.50 percent.
On November 29, the combined market capitalization of all BSE-listed businesses surpassed the USD 4 trillion mark for the first time.
On Friday, the market capitalization of NSE-listed businesses crossed USD 4 trillion (Rs 334.72 trillion) for the first time.
