US Traveler Died In Bahamas Shark Attack

An investigation has already begun

On Monday, police in the Caribbean country stated that a US tourist visiting the Bahamas was killed by a shark on Monday.

The anonymous 44-year-old ladt from Boston was paddle-boarding off the coast on the island of New Providence, which also houses the capital Nassau.

According to a statement from the Royal Bahamas Police Force, a lifeguard carried the woman and a male relative she was with to shore and performed CPR.

“The victim suffered significant trauma to the right side of her body”, the statement reads, and she was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Police did not name the resort.

An investigation has already begun.

The Bahamas, an archipelago of over 3,000 islands, is home to a multitude of beach resorts and relies heavily on tourism to support its economy.

Shark attacks there and elsewhere are uncommon, with the International Shark Attack File, a data source maintained by the Florida Museum of Natural History, in the United States.

As per the report, the Bahamas has had 33 unprovoked attacks since 1580.
