The benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty concluded higher on Wednesday, driven by heavy buying in Reliance Industries and Tata Consultancy Services.
The BSE Sensex soared 149.98 points, or 0.19 percent to 76,606.57. The NSE Nifty moved 58.10 points, or 0.24 percent to 23,322.95.
Ambuja Cements, Bank of Baroda, JIO Financial Serv., Coal India, Power Grid Corp, Trent, Siemens, ABB India, Cholamandalam Invest, Eicher Motors, GAIL(India), and Jindal Steel & Power were the top gainers.
Among the laggards were Pidilite Industries, Marico, United Spirits, Mahindra & Mahindra, Interglobe Aviation, Adani Green Energy, and Britannia Industries.
In Asian markets, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Shanghai, and Thailand ended higher, while Malaysia, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Indonesia closed lower.
US markets concluded mostly higher on Tuesday.
European stocks were trading higher.
Brent crude gained 0.78 percent to USD 82.70 per barrel.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 111.04 crore on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the Sensex sank 33.49 points or 0.04 percent to 76,456.59, while the Nifty inched up 5.65 points or 0.02 percent to 23,264.85.
