OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has brought on board Gabor Cselle, former CEO and co-founder of social media platform Pebble, to work on a confidential project.
Taking to X, Gabor Cselle posted, “Excited to share that I’ve joined @OpenAI! The talent density here is incredible. Learning a lot already. Will share more about what I’m working on in due time.”

Cselle’s Pebble: From Co-Founding To Closure & Relaunch
Cselle’s journey with Pebble began in 2022, when he co-founded the platform, initially named T2, alongside Michael Greer, a former engineering lead at Discord.
Pebble had aimed to be a competitor to X, attracting investment from notable figures like Android co-founder Rich Miner.
However, by 2023, the platform announced its closure, having built a small but passionate user base on its microblogging service.
After a brief shutdown, Pebble was relaunched as a Mastodon instance under the name Pebble.social.
Despite this revival, the platform struggled to maintain momentum, with its user base dwindling from 20,000 registered users to around 1,000 daily active users.
As per reports, Cselle stated, “I think it’s good to see that the community finds value in this and that’s that we had a real community on Pebble.”
Following his time at Pebble, Cselle joined the accelerator South Park Commons in May, further expanding his role in the tech world.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that OpenAI is preparing for the release of its next major AI model, codenamed ‘Orion’, rumored to be significantly more powerful than the current GPT-4 model.
While earlier versions of OpenAI’s models were widely available through ChatGPT, speculations suggest that Orion may have a more limited rollout initially.
OpenAI has not confirmed an official launch date for Orion, and some reports suggest the company is still finalizing plans for its release.
This comes as OpenAI continues to undergo rapid growth, having raised $6.6 billion in funding and reaching a staggering valuation of $157 billion.
