Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, informed the Lok Sabha on Monday that the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has processed a record 2.16 crore claims through its auto-settlement mode in the current financial year, a significant jump from 89.52 lakh in 2023-24.

The minister stated in a written response that EPFO processes auto-mode claims within three days, highlighting its commitment to efficiency.

To further streamline the process, the limit for advance claims processed in auto mode has raised to Rs 1 lakh.

The EPFO has also simplified the process for members seeking corrections in their details.

Aadhaar-verified UAN holders can now update their information without requiring EPFO intervention, with 96% of such corrections completed independently.

The transition to digital services has enabled users to submit 99.31% of claims online, minimizing the need for physical visits to field offices.

As of 6 March 2025, a total of 7.14 crore claims filed through online channels.

“In transfer claim submission requests, the need for employer’s attestation of Aadhaar-verified UANs has done away with. Now only 10 percent transfer claims require member and employer’s attestation,” the minister asserted.

The minister also informed Parliament that EPFO has introduced a de-linking facility to assist members whose accounts were erroneously or fraudulently linked by establishments.

Since its launch on 18 January 2025, over 55,000 members have successfully de-linked their accounts by the end of February.

To prevent the filing of ineligible claims, EPFO has introduced upfront validations, helping members determine their eligibility before submission.
