PVR lunched Director's cut.
South India’s first Director’s Cut has been launched by PVR Cinemas at Rex Walk on Brigade Road in Bengaluru. This luxurious thematic auditorium that blends premium hospitality and entertainment is the third of its kind in India.
It has a 243 seats in its five auditoriums that have been designed to offer an unparalleled experience, said PVR Managing Director Ajay Bijli. This is the third new Director’s Cut in India.
It will have 4K laser projection system, y along with 7.1 Dolby surround system and Real-D 3D technology.
“The auditorium will have 1.2 meters’ legroom and 750 mm seat width. You’ve got a call button, you’ve got a swivel seat, you’ve got torch light, and therefore there will be service on seats. I think food and beverages are phenomenal, offering all sorts of cuisines,” Bijli told to media on Friday, 2 December 2022.
“The ticket rate has not been finalized yet, but it will be likely around Rs 900. There will also be dynamic and flexible pricing on weekends, peak hours and weekdays to meet all types of consumers”, the MD added.
Bijli said PVR Ltd opened its first Director’s Cut in 2011 in Delhi with an idea to attract people to cinema theatres who wanted a different experience, and the response they got was ‘phenomenal’.
The latest launch in Bengaluru is the 884th screen of PVR. According to them, the first quarter of this financial year recorded almost 25 million people in their cinemas and 18 million in the second quarter. Bijli points out a clear coming back of cinemas from OTT to theatres.
“The noise levels of OTT went very high because of the pandemic when cinemas were shut. Now that the movies have come back, things are changing fast. The OTT is a coexistence of consumption of content. In fact, it doesn’t impact because theatrically when the movie gets released it sets the benchmark – the quantitative benchmark and the qualitative benchmark,” he added.
The company is planning to set up Director’s Cut movie halls in Noida, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Chandigarh. The latest launch in Bengaluru is the 884th screen of PVR Limited, which opens 100-odd screens every year.
