An official stated that the Aviation regulator DGCA is conducting a technical evaluation of the engine problems experienced by IndiGo’s two planes on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, two IndiGo aircraft, one from Kolkata to Bengaluru and another from Madurai to Mumbai experienced engine problems.
IndiGo announced in a statement that its flight 6E 455 from Kolkata to Bengaluru returned to Kolkata after taking off owing to a technical problem. The pilot returned to Kolkata using conventional operating procedures.
In a separate statement, IndiGo stated, “The aircraft 6E-2012 from Madurai to Mumbai encountered a technical issue prior to landing in Mumbai, and the pilot prioritized the landing in Mumbai”.
“The aircraft is held in Mumbai and will be back in operation after necessary maintenance”, the statement reads.
On Wednesday, the senior official at the regulator noted, “The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is conducting a technical evaluation of both incidents in close coordination with the operator”.
IndiGo’s fleet is powered by Pratt & Whitney (P&W) engines, and several planes are currently on the ground.
