C-Heavy Molasses Produced Ethanol Price Increased

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the decision taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs. The revision of ethanol procurement price for public sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) is for the Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2024-25.

C-Heavy Molasses Produced Ethanol Price Increased

Government after a cabinet meeting raised the price of ethanol derived from C-heavy molasses to Rs 57.97 per litre.  Union cabinet raised the price on 29 January 2025 approving a higher ex-mill price for ethanol at 57.97 rupees, registering an increase of Rs 1.69.

However, prices for ethanol produced B heavy molasses and sugarcane juice/ sugar/ sugar syrup remained untouched at 60.73 rupees per liter and 65.61 rupees per liter, respectively.

The government has also advanced the target of 20% ethanol blending in petrol to the ethanol year 2025-26 from the earlier target of 2030.

“As a step in this direction, OMCs plan to achieve 18% blending during the ongoing ESY 2024-25,” an official release said.
