Adani Airport Holdings has terminated its agreement with Turkish firm DragonPass. The decision ends DragonPass customers’ access to lounges at Adani-managed airports. This move follows Turkey’s vocal support for Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attacks and India’s Operation Sindoor.
A company spokesperson confirmed the development on Thursday. “Our association with DragonPass has been terminated with immediate effect. This change does not affect the travel experience for other customers,” the spokesperson said.
Government Revokes Turkish Firm’s Clearance
The Centre has also acted against Turkish ground-handling company Celebi Airport Services. The Ministry of Civil Aviation revoked its security clearance, citing national security concerns.
“In the exercise of powers under DG, BCAS, the security clearance of Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd is revoked with immediate effect,” the ministry stated.
Celebi handles 70% of ground operations at Mumbai airport, including flight services, cargo, and logistics. The government’s action follows widespread calls to ban Turkish firms over Ankara’s support to Islamabad.
Minister Cites National Interest
Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol confirmed the action on X. “We received several requests to ban Celebi NAS Airport Services. In the interest of national security, clearance has been revoked. Nation’s safety remains our top priority,” he posted.
Reports say Celebi is partly owned by Sumeyye Erdogan, daughter of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. She is married to Selcuk Bayraktar, the maker of Bayraktar drones used by Pakistan.
This link, officials suggest, points to deep personal and political ties between Turkey’s ruling family and Pakistan’s military operations.
