A 28-year-old was allegedly murdered by his live-in partner after she filed a rape case against him. The accused’s wife aided him in killing and disposing of the body of the victim.
The body was disposed of in a creek at Valsad in neighboring Gujrat. The victim has been identified as Naina Mahat who was a makeup artist and worked in the film industry. The Victim was in a 5-year long relationship with Manohar Shukla, The accused used to work as a costume designer.
The investigation revealed that Naina was forcing Mnohar to marry her but he refused to do so. After which she filed a rape case against him. Manohar insisted that she withdraw the case and when she refused he killed her.
Manohar sought his wife’s help after murdering her, his wife aided in stuffing the body in a suitcase before dumping it in Valasad Creek. The incident occurred on August 9. A missing person’s complaint was filed by Naina’s family at the Naigaon police station on 12 August, an official said.
Naina’s sister said that she could not reach Naina on August 12th as her phone was switched off. She then filed a missing person’s report.
According to Naina’s sister, her live-in partner was persuading her to withdraw the bail and when she refused to do so he threatened to kill her.
According to reports Shukla and his wife were arrested on Tuesday. An abetment to suicide was lodged against the accused at Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar police limits, an official said
