India Vs Bharat Row: The United Nations has offered a comment in the midst of the ongoing discussion of changing the name of India to Bharat. Farhan Haq, the deputy spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, addressed the matter and stated that when a country makes a suggestion, the international organization takes it into consideration.
Turkiye comes into scene
Using last year’s name change of Turkey to Turkiye as an example, Haq said: “Well, in the instance of Turkiye, we replied to a formal request brought to us by the Government. Of course, if we receive requests like that, we’ll take them into consideration.”

No comments on India Vs Bharat Row
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with all of his ministers before leaving for Indonesia to attend the ASEAN-India Summit in preparation for the next G20 Summit, which will take place in Delhi on September 9 and 10. PM Modi requested that his ministers refrain from making any comments about the name change during the meeting. He reportedly said, “Do not comment,” according to sources.

“I think these are just rumours which are taking place. All I want to say is that anyone who objects to the word Bharat clearly shows the mindset,” said the minister.
“I am a minister of Bharat Sarkar, many news channels also have Bharat in their name. Why should anyone object to Bharat, who are these people who are allergic to the name Bharat? Who is opposing the name Bharat? Now have you even started feeling the pain at the mention of Bharat?” Thakur added while attacking the opposition.
