Viral Video: Rare Pink Dolphin Spotted Off Louisiana

The Blue World Institute states that pink or white dolphins are unusual and sometimes related to albinism. Sadly, because of the attention that these unusual species attract from people, they may occasionally be taken captive.

Last week, a rare pink dolphin was seen swimming in the waters off Louisiana. Thurman Gustin, who has been fishing for more than 20 years, is the person who captured the creature on camera, according to CBS News. On July 12, he discovered not one, but two pink dolphins in Cameron Parish, which is close to the Gulf of Mexico. He posted a video of the encounter on Facebook, and it quickly gained popularity. Even though he was used to seeing dolphins in the region, Mr. Gustin told CBS News that this particular encounter utterly caught him off guard.

He even compared it to some of his most amazing animal encounters, like the time he saw a bobcat swim over a bayou in Texas; it was a memorable experience for him.

Regarding the experience with the bobcat, Mr. Gustin told the publication, “That was amazing, but nothing like this.

“As we moved forward, I became aware of something beneath the water that I knew wasn’t normal. I came to a stop, and this stunning pink dolphin emerged. I was forced to record it,” he continued.

One pink dolphin is seen briefly emerging from the ocean before plunging back under in Mr. Gustin’s video.

He told USA Today, “I fish all the time. My third visit to Louisiana this year, I said, “. Such spotting is incredibly uncommon, therefore I was extremely lucky. People who have lived there their entire lives have never witnessed something similar.

Mr Gustin called the experience “unforgettable”
It was improbable that Mr. Gustin had encountered the pink river dolphin, despite the fact that it is a species that lives in freshwater river basins in South America. The most likely possibilities were bottlenose dolphins, which are frequent in the Gulf of Mexico and generally seen in the grey hue.

The Blue World Institute states that pink or white dolphins are unusual and sometimes related to albinism. Sadly, because of the attention that these unusual species attract from people, they may occasionally be taken captive.

According to USA Today, the dolphin Gustin encountered might have been “Pinky,” a well-known dolphin from southern Louisiana. Pinky, who was discovered for the first time in the Calcasieu River in 2007, resembles an albino dolphin in that it lacks colour and has reddish eyes and visible blood vessels.
People share their interactions with Pinky on Facebook, where she has amassed a sizable fan base.
