The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) next director will be Karnataka police chief Praveen Sood.

In March, Mr. Sood made headlines after Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar accused him of defending the state’s BJP government. Invoking the fact that the state’s Director general of police was allegedly bringing against Congress leaders, Mr. Shivakumar demanded his arrest.

Praveen Sood, a 1986-batch IPS officer from the Karnataka cadre, will succeed current chief Subodh Kumar Jaiswal when his term expires.
