After the horrifying terror attack on a truck in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch area, the Indian Army released the name of the five soldiers killed during the same. According to the Army’s 16 Corps based in Nagrota, the five deceased are Havildar Mandeep Singh, lance naik Debashish Baswal, lance naik Kulwant Singh, sepoy Harkrishan Singh and Sepoy Sewak Singh.

Taking to Twitter, it said, “The Whitenight Corps stand in solidarity with the bereaved families.”

As per the reports, the deceased soldiers were attached to the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles unit and were deployed for counterterrorist operations in that area.

This heart-wrenching incident took place after the vehicle the victims of the terror attack were travelling in was fired upon by terrorists in the Rajouri sector in Jammu leading to the death of five soldiers, and injuring another.

How terrorists made this attack happen?

Taking notes from the terror attack, in an official statement, the Army said, the unidentified attackers took advantage of heavy rains and low visibility in the area. They also added that the army truck caught fire amid a likely grenade attack.

Several videos of this incident surfaced throughout the internet.

The injured soldier is receiving treatment at the Army Hospital in Rajouri.

Political fraternities paid tribute & extended condolences

Moreover, several political personalities paid tribute to the deceased soldiers and many expressed shock over this heinous attack.

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) convener Arvind Kejriwal expressed his grief and paid tribute to the soldiers. He also called for the strongest punishment for those who are “behind this cowardly attack.”

While paying tributes to fallen soldiers and extending condolences to the bereaved families, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the news of the death of five soldiers in the terrorist attack was extremely saddening.

National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Terrible news of a terror attack in Poonch that claimed the lives of 5 army jawans in the line of duty. I unequivocally condemn this heinous attack & send my condolences to the loved ones of those killed today. May the souls of the departed rest in peace.”
