Sun Mobility, a leading supplier of energy infrastructure and services for electric vehicles (EVs) is now in collaboration with Zomato, an online ordering and food delivery platform. As stated by SUN Mobility on Monday,  it will now power Zomato with 50,000 electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws) throughout India over the course of the next 24 months using its battery swap solutions for last-mile deliveries.

The association between the two companies has been in Delhi with an initial fleet deployment. The CEO, SUN Mobility, Anant Badjatya said, “By deploying 50,000 electric two-wheelers in Zomato’s fleet, we are reducing our carbon footprint by 5,000 MT/month.”He further added that they are contributing towards a cleaner environment.  “We believe that this association will not only benefit the environment but also provide a better experience for delivery partners and the customers,” he further added.

While talking about the same, the COO of Zomato, Mohit Sardana expressed his concern for the environment. He said, Along with the growth and creation of new gigs in the last-mile delivery ecosystem, “the environment must not bear the burden of this growth.” He further added, “Our associations in the past and now with Sun Mobility to swap batteries will accelerate the transition to EV-based deliveries, further helping us keep our promise of a sustainable Zomato for customers, delivery partners, employees and the planet.”

According to the partners, the decision is in line with Sun Mobility’s goal of electrifying last-mile deliveries in India as well as Zomato’s dedication to “The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative,” which calls for 100% EV adoption by 2030. With this association, Zomato’s last-mile delivery partners who have joined the network will gain access to simple and affordable battery-swapping solutions for their e-two-wheelers. The last-mile delivery partners will be able to quickly and easily exchange their drained batteries for fully charged ones at Sun Mobility Exchange Points. According to the partners, this will decrease the amount of time needed to recharge, improve the effectiveness of last-mile delivery operations, and help create a cleaner atmosphere by lowering emissions.
