The paperwork for an exchange involving Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season has reportedly been completed.
However, the trade awaits formal approval from the BCCI and the IPL governing council before the franchises announce it.
An IPL source told on Saturday that the initial documentation was complete, with the final amount and official announcement pending approval.
IANS previously reported on November 3 that Punjab Kings (PBKS), led by Shreyas Iyer, had emerged as frontrunners to acquire Pandya ahead of the November 17 retention deadline.
Punjab Kings initially included wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod in the exchange but have since dropped him from the deal.
Hardik Pandya’s Second Mumbai Indians Stint Ends
The proposed trade would end Pandya’s second spell with Mumbai Indians, who acquired him from Gujarat Titans before IPL 2024 and appointed him captain in place of Rohit Sharma.
MI reached the playoffs in 2025 but finished last in 2024 and ninth in 2026. Pandya recorded 15 victories and 24 defeats across 39 matches as captain.
Meanwhile, Arshdeep has represented PBKS since 2019 and established himself in the Indian team through his performances.
He is currently participating in India’s ODI series against New Zealand and remains India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is.
Both players featured in India’s T20 World Cup-winning campaigns in 2024 and 2026. Pandya’s injury concerns remain significant.
He has not played competitive cricket since IPL 2026 after suffering multiple injuries, including a shin problem that ruled him out of India A’s October series against Australia A and Baroda’s upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign.
PBKS have also reconsidered a proposed Marcus Stoinis-Mohsin Khan exchange, with Stoinis likely to remain for IPL 2027.
Separately, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants are reportedly discussing a multi-player trade.
The BCCI extended the retention deadline to November 17. The IPL mini-auction is scheduled for December 16 in Goa.
