President Murmu Extends Diwali Wishes, Urges Youth To Help Build ‘Viksit Bharat’

President Droupadi Murmu extended Diwali greetings to Indians at home and abroad on Saturday, November 7.

She encouraged young people to contribute actively towards building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ while following Indian values.

The President also urged citizens to protect the environment and maintain harmony.

In her message, Murmu said, “On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Indians living in India and abroad.”

Murmu recalled the tradition of celebrating Diwali following Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya after defeating the demon king Ravan.

She noted that people welcomed Lord Ram with rows of illuminated lamps, a tradition that represents the festival’s cultural and devotional importance.

She also linked Diwali with the auspicious beginning of Ram Rajya.

The President said the festival represents the triumph of virtues over negative tendencies and marks the end of suffering, paving the way for happiness and prosperity.

She added that devotees worship Lord Ganesh for auspicious beginnings and well-being, while offering prayers to Mahalakshmi Mata for prosperity.

Wishing citizens good health, happiness and prosperity, the President called for greater environmental responsibility and peaceful coexistence.

She said patriotic young people, guided by Indian values, should contribute enthusiastically towards the nation’s development.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted citizens through a social media video titled ‘Have a great Diwali’.

The Prime Minister said the festival symbolises the country’s commitment to overcoming darkness and wished everyone happiness, wellbeing and prosperity.

PM Modi also confirmed that, like in previous years, he would celebrate Diwali with defence personnel.
