Cyclone Arnab: Bihar Issues Orange Alert As Rain Forecast From October 28

Cyclonic storm Arnab, developing over the Bay of Bengal, is likely to influence weather conditions in Bihar, bringing rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds between October 28 and November 1.

The system is expected to approach the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28, with its indirect effects likely to affect several districts of Bihar. North Bihar could witness more intense weather activity, including heavy rainfall on October 29.

The Meteorological Department has reportedly issued a yellow alert for certain districts on October 28 and an orange alert for October 29. Wind speeds could reach 40–50 kmph, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms.

Most parts of Bihar are likely to experience dry weather on October 26 and 27. Patna, Muzaffarpur and neighbouring areas may see sunny conditions, cooler mornings and evenings, and no immediate rainfall.

Maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may remain near 21 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity could range between 55 and 75 per cent before increasing as the weather system develops.

Rainfall and strong winds could damage standing crops and fruit-bearing trees. Lightning may threaten people, livestock and property, while temporary structures and tin-roofed houses could sustain damage.

Farmers have been advised to monitor weather updates and protect crops and agricultural equipment. Residents should avoid trees and electric poles during thunderstorms and seek shelter in sturdy buildings.

Although Bihar is not expected to face a direct landfall, the storm’s indirect effects could disrupt daily activities. Residents should follow official advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather.
