Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Samajwadi Party convener Akhilesh Yadav have been engaged in a war of words during the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly today, over the broad daylight shootout in Prayagraj.

According to the police, on Friday, Umesh Pal, the prime witness of the 2005 murder case of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Raju Pal, was shot dead at his residence. One of his gunners, who too was hit in the firing, died later at a hospital. The main accused in the Raju Pal murder is mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, who is currently behind bars in Gujarat Jail.

Moreover, the police said that the attackers were continuously chasing Umesh Pal’s car and came with crude bombs in their bags. In one of the video clips, one of the accused was seen taking out a bomb from his bag and hurling it at Umesh Pal.

While retorting to the SP chief’s allegations over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, CM Yogi was seen agitated. Further, a ruckus broke out after a heated exchange of words between both leaders.

Police a complete failure, BJP is responsible: Akhilesh

Taking notes from the shootout, SP chief Yadav alleged, “The way bombs were hurdled yesterday, it is clear that this govt has completely failed and a gang war-like situation has developed. Is this Ramrajya where guns are being fired openly? Police is a complete failure and BJP is responsible.”

‘Will not let Mafia raj prevail’ CM Yogi slams SP chief

Hitting back at the SP chief, the UP CM said, “Government is working on the incident of Prayagraj on the basis of the zero-tolerance policy. But the criminal who was involved in the incident, was not nurtured by Samajwadi Party? Was he not made MP by SP? We’ll not spare these mafias. The mafia who has done this act is absconding from the state today, whoever the mafia may be, our government will not let ‘mafia raj’ prevail in the state.”

CM Yogi has accused the Samajwadi Party of patronising the mafia (criminals) and said “unko mitti mein mila denge.”

“Statements like ladke hain, galti ho jaati hai…were made. A state guest house incident happened. This shows how much SP respects women. Jo apne baap ka samman nai kiya…” further, the angry CM retorted.

CM Yogi on Ramcharit Manas

Moreover, CM Yogi has said, “The way some people tried to tear Ramcharit Manas if this had happened with any other religion, what would have been the situation? Does it mean whoever wants to insult Hindus, can do it?”
