Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the newly developed vegetable sub-yard at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Dahegam, Gandhinagar district, on Monday as part of the committee’s Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Dahegam APMC Chairman Sumeru Amin, representatives from the cooperative sector, APMC office-bearers and other guests will attend the programme.

The Ministry of Cooperation developed the new facility in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ vision, which focuses on strengthening cooperative institutions, improving agricultural marketing systems, and increasing farmers’ incomes.

Dahegam APMC established the vegetable sub-yard to provide better marketing infrastructure, ensure smoother trading operations and improve market access for farmers across the region.

As part of the programme, Shah will plant a sapling under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, the Centre’s nationwide initiative encouraging tree plantation in honour of mothers. He will also release a commemorative publication celebrating the Dahegam APMC’s Amrit Mahotsav before holding discussions with members of the market committee’s governing board.

APMCs function as regulated marketplaces that help farmers sell agricultural produce through transparent trading mechanisms while ensuring fair pricing and improved market facilities. They continue to play a significant role in Gujarat’s cooperative and agricultural economy.

Earlier in the day, Shah will inaugurate the 11th edition of the INTERPOL Digital Forensics Expert Group (DFEG) Meeting at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar.

The conference will welcome delegates from 47 countries along with senior law enforcement officials.
