Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik on Sunday emphasised that officials must enforce the Union government’s reservation policies for ex-servicemen thoroughly. He said this would ensure fairness, respect and due acknowledgement for those who served the nation.
Addressing the Ex-Servicemen Rally at Likabali Military Station in Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor stated that the country remains indebted to its veterans and described their dedication and experience as an enduring national strength. He recognised the sacrifices of ex-servicemen and Veer Naris and acknowledged their ongoing role in nation-building.
Governor KT Parnaik commended veterans for their disciplined and distinguished service while drawing attention to the difficulties faced by personnel retiring early below officer rank. He underlined the importance of providing effective rehabilitation, resettlement opportunities, and stable sources of livelihood.
The Governor further highlighted the need to support Veer Naris, calling for increased societal respect, institutional backing, and empathetic engagement. He stressed the importance of protecting pension entitlements, ensuring access to quality education for their children, and improving healthcare facilities.
Governor KT Parnaik urged the state administration to strengthen welfare initiatives, including financial incentives and land allocation for decorated veterans. He also emphasised the need for the timely release of gratuity payments and welfare assistance.
The Governor additionally advocated expanding employment opportunities in the civil sector and strengthening medical coverage under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor described ex-servicemen as highly trained and mission-oriented individuals. He suggested that authorities should effectively utilise their expertise in areas such as ecological protection, emergency services, policing and community outreach programmes.
Senior officials, including Major General Vivek Bakshi and Air Commodore Rinchin Dorji Musabi (Retd), addressed attendees and outlined ongoing welfare programmes and rehabilitation initiatives for veterans and their dependants.
The Governor, along with MLA Oken Tayeng and other dignitaries, honoured ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and their families. They recognised their contributions and resilience.
During the programme, the Governor inspected service stalls offering medical check-ups, documentation assistance, and banking services. He interacted with veterans and instructed officials to address several concerns immediately.
As a gesture of support, he distributed wheelchairs to physically challenged veterans, reinforcing the commitment to their dignity and well-being.
More than 1,300 ex-servicemen and Veer Naris from Arunachal Pradesh and Assam participated in the rally. The turnout highlighted unity and shared commitment.
